I started getting interested in tech when I was 7 by taking apart old electronics. Early on in 2004 I also learned about computer hardware by upgrading my family computer with a new graphics card to gain more FPS for an RC flight simulator. With that card, I also learned about overclocking and even installing custom drivers.
During the late MySpace days, I taught myself HTML and CSS, and still build sites today as the “Senior Web Nerd” at Lead Nerds. In 2011 my parents had given me money as a graduation gift. With that, I was finally able to build a PC by selecting every component by myself. Since then I started my own YouTube channel, Mike Likes That, to help educate people about computers and other fun things.
Through Computer Repair Lab I want to be able to give others the opportunity to develop amazing problem solving skills like I did growing up, whether this be in-person or through our interactive live streams on Youtube.
After more than 10 years of working alone or as a subcontractor with other agencies I always felt like something was missing. There was a lack of connection and teamwork that was needed to grow clients’ businesses.
I formed Lead Nerds to encourage tech education for our local community through “Doing Business Digitally” webinars and co-founded Computer Repair Lab where we give used computers and laptops new life by upgrading them and fixing them to give to kids so that they can use them for their school work.
My personal dream is to one day form a before and after school program for k-12 that provides kids a free safe place to learn and be tutored in STEAM and encourages physical fitness.
